Man charged with two counts of assault by beating against women's rights campaigner
Ben Lindsay, 34, of Barnsley, has been charged with two counts of assault by beating after allegedly throwing soup at women’s rights campaigner Kellie-Jay Keen at a Let Women Speak event in Sheffield.
Let Women Speak is an international movement founded and hosted by Kellie-Jay Keen. The initiative organises events worldwide, providing a platform for women to discuss the impact of gender identity on women's rights and child safeguarding.
The incident occurred on September 21st, shortly before the event at Barker’s Pool, Sheffield, was set to begin at 1 PM. While technical equipment was being set up, Lindsay allegedly approached Mrs Keen from behind and poured soup over her.
Attendees followed Lindsay, and he was subsequently arrested by police. He has been released on conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on Monday, 25th November.

Lindsay appeared before Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Monday, 25th November 2024. He pled guilty, was found guilty by judge of two counts of assault by beating; one intentional, one negligent. He was sentenced to pay fines, compensation and costs totalling £565.
